This folder is a collection of HyperCard=81 stacks illustrating the
pronunciation of French vowels, consonants and essential optional and
required liaisons. French Pronunciation Practice (FPP) and its companion
stack French Pronunciation Quiz (FPQ) are HyperCard=81 Stacks which make use
of sound stacks HyperSound=811 and HyperSound=812 which I recorded using
MacRecorder=81. The sound stacks contain the words and phrases illustrated
by FPP and FPQ stacks. The remaining stacks (Combos, Consonants and
Vowels) contain the text of the presentation. Pierre Delattre's Principes
de Phon=E9tique was used as reference for liaisons.

GeoDraw USA is a HyperCard stack. It allows geography students to become

GeoDraw USA requires HyperCard or HyperCard Player 2.x.

Subject: [*] guide to xcmds 1.5
This is the catalog of my own collection of XCMDs. It is
distributed for two reasons: (i) you can use it to keep
track of your own collection, as it has a number of cool but
simple features; (ii) it gives you some idea
what XCMDs (public) are out there --
that is, it helps to answer the question, "is there an XCMD
to...?". The list is necessarily selective and finite, but
it could be pretty helpful; it has become a sort of
unofficial FAQ for this form of question.
Note that no XCMDs are included with the stack, and that I
cannot send any. To find XCMDs, you
should try mirrors of sumex & umich, and the HyperStacks
CD from Pacific Hi-Tech (info@pht.com).
Changes in v1.5: more XCMDs; squashed some bugs.
I believe the simulation of the List Manager now
works acceptably on both fast and slow machines.

After a few weeks of playing Marathon, I was sick of swapping resolutions
on my multiscan monitor... and tried to think of a cool way to shortcut the
process. I loved the "ToggleSndVol FKEY", and was inspired to do something
similar.
The FKEY is packaged as a Font suitcase... Simply place the file in the Fonts
folder of System 7.1 or later -- no need to reboot! The FKEY is activated
by pressing Command-Shift-Zero (ala FKEY zero) in any application.
This software requires the Display Manager 1.2, which is bundled with System
7.5.2 (as installed on the PM7200, PM7500, and PM8500). If you dont have
7.5.2 or the updater... you need to get the software from Apple's FTP site
(it's free!) at:
<ftp://ftptoo.support.apple.com/pub/apple_sw_updates/US/mac/
display_periph_sw/MultipleScan%20Display%20SW%201.2.hqx>
Its free to download and redistribute... but if you find yourself using it
*all* the time, you could consider sending me $5 or $10 as guiltware. :)

Anyway, in an attempt to copy protect the floppy version of Windoze,
Microsoft designed the installion routine with Disk1 as a normal 1.44
floppy and the rest as 1.6M floppies.
Disk1, changes some settings/parameters (I'm not a windoze guy) in
windows so it can read the 1.6M floppies. At the end of the installation,
the settings/parameters are changed back so windows can read 1.44
floppies.
Hope this helps.

We had this problem on an LC630. Apparently, it occurs with *some* types
of hard disk and not with others. Ours was a 500 Mb disk and the techie
told me that Apple managed to put 7.5 on these disks in the factory but
that there was no way you could install 7.5 on one of these disks which had
previously been set up with 7.1. The failure occurs when the installer is
trying to build the system file, but I don't know any more than that.
In our case, the machine was under warranty so the disk was replaced free
and we now have 7.5 up and running and no more problems.

Sort of. CorelDRAW! files can export to Adobe Illustrator 3.0 format, and
can be read by the Mac version of Illustrator. I work in an all-Mac
electronic prepress department, and being MacSnobs(tm), we despise CD.
However, some of our customers use CD, and we have had some success with
filed exported as above.

As far as I know, Corel has been working on a Mac version of CD for about
fifty years now, but they don't seem too anxious to finish the project; the
competition between existing graphic design programs on the Mac may be
keeping them at bay, although I've heard that CD is pretty feature-laden
(and remember, I'm a MacSnob(tm)...).
So, I guess you'll have to have your wife export images to Illustrator in
order to use them from the CD's; not exactly convenient.
Hope this helps,

Srange, I have a similar problem with a 14" monitor that came with my IIVX.
At startup, the indicator light on the monitor comes on, but the screen
does not . During bootup, or after the MAC is fully booted, if I press the
monitor on/off button once or several times the monitor comes on. So far
the monitor has been in to repair shops with no luck in fixing the problem.
If I shut down and start up within 10 minutes everything works as it
supposed to. But after 10 minutes the above problem repeats it self.
Any ideas.

I used to receive my Info-Mac (and TidBITS) subscription copies at eWorld in

But currently eWorld is sending only the first portion (20-25K) via e-mail
and and the rest as a MIME file that should be able to be decoded by an

eWorld is working on a permanent solution, but in the meantime they suggest a
replacing all of the "/r's" in the file with a carriage return. It works!

Subject: System 7.5.1 update problem: Mac IIcx
Hi fellow experts!
The System 7.5 was installed on Mac IIcx, no problems. Then the update 7.5
->7.5.1 was installed.
After the update you get the error message ``bus error'' when you shut down
the machine or restart it.
The Mac IIcx is connected to Ethernet by FastPath and LocalTalk. We are
using here the Finnish language version of the MacOS.
Any suggestions? (I tried the clean installation, too.)
